My Great Uncle Shep once told me, “if you find something you love, you’ll never work a day in your life.” Uncle Shep was an engineer and is one of the happiest people I’ve ever met; my hope is to to follow in his path and pursue a career and life that makes me truly happy. Being a designer is not just a career I’ve chosen, but it’s my life. I have learned to use my creativity to build marketing campaigns fueled by analytical thought and my love for people. If had to stop creating, I could never be truly happy.
I am the definition of an 80′s child. Some how or another I’m pretty sure the Memphis design movement imprinted on my brain as a small child, perhaps it was too much MTV with my big sis growing up. Give me pink, and give me black, some big abstracts, a touch of neon and I am one happy girl! Thanks to some helping hands along the way I’ve learned how to design and create campaigns for the client and audience.
I have worked in the marketing and design industry for eight years and have a strong understanding of deadlines, teamwork and long hours. I am a skilled and dedicated marketer with a strong knowledge of Adobe creative suite. I have experience working with a team of designers, creating logos, photo shoots, planning content, blog management, web design, PR, social media management, and event planning.
I am originally a Connecticut native but spent two years studying at the University of Central Lancashire in England. I thoroughly enjoyed experiencing a different culture and amazing music scene. In 2012 I was awarded an MA in graphic design receiving a first with distinction.
I have spent the past 3 years working as the Marketing Manager for Locals 8 Restaurant Group in Hartford, CT. Our group has 10 locations with 3 brands in 3 national US markets. Our largest concept being Plan B Burger Bar with 8 locations and counting. I have managed everything from new restaurant opening strategies to event coordination to social media. This job has made me a versatile marketer and brand ambassador with strengths in PR, design, event planning, and communication. As an added bonus I also have great knowledge about the American craft beer and bourbon markets.
In addition, photography is a hobby of mine and my years in England caused me to completely fall in love with British fashion. I believe that photography, fashion, and food offer the opportunity to create fusions within my artistic interests. I am a certified beer cicerone server and a self proclaimed ‘bourbon bitch.’ In college I was a Regional All-American Lacrosse player and have learned that you can always push yourself harder than you think.
I am a recovering social media junky. Everyone should have the right to free speech! Follow me on Twitter @Rhurv.
